Everything you log in Kalena — periods, symptoms, notes — is stored only on your device. We have no servers. We cannot see your data. We never could.
Kalena ("we," "our," or "us") is operated by Kalena Flow Ltd, a company registered in Ireland. We are committed to protecting your privacy through our core architecture: a "Local-First" design where your health data is stored exclusively on your device and is never transmitted to our servers or any third party.
This policy applies to the Kalena Android app and the kalenaflow.com website.
Our core principle is that your health data belongs to you alone.
All period logs, cycle dates, symptoms, BBT readings, and notes are stored in a local SQLite database on your device. This data is never transmitted anywhere. We do not have access to it and cannot retrieve it even if requested.
You do not need to create an account or provide an email address to use Kalena. The app works fully offline from the moment you install it.
The app does not request internet permission for any health-related functionality. Your cycle data cannot leave your device through the app.
While your health data is entirely private, certain limited non-sensitive data is processed to enable app functionality:
When you purchase the Premium unlock, the transaction is handled entirely by Google Play Billing. We receive only a confirmation token to activate your premium features. We do not receive or store your payment details, real name, or billing address.
Settings such as your display name, theme preference, and premium status are stored locally on your device using AsyncStorage. This data never leaves your device.
To maintain your privacy, we strictly limit third-party integrations:
Google Play Services — used only for processing in-app purchases and delivering app updates.
No analytics SDKs — we do not use Google Analytics, Firebase, Meta Pixel, or any behaviour tracking tool.
No advertising SDKs — we do not serve ads. No advertiser ever receives data from Kalena.
Because your data is stored locally on your device, its security depends on the security of your device. We recommend:
Kalena is intended for users aged 13 and over. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children under 13. Because the app collects no data at all, it poses no data privacy risk to any age group. If you believe a child under 13 is using the app, please contact us at hello@kalenaflow.com.
As an Irish-registered company, Kalena Flow Ltd complies with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). You have the following rights:
Use the "Export to JSON/CSV" feature in Settings at any time to download your full data history.
Delete all your data instantly using "Clear All Data" in Settings, or by uninstalling the app. Deletion is immediate and permanent — there is no 30-day retention period.

Kalena is a personal tracking and informational tool. It is not a medical device and must not be used as a form of contraception or for the diagnosis of any medical condition. Predictions and estimates are based on historical patterns and may not be accurate for every individual. Always consult a qualified healthcare professional for medical advice.
We may update this policy occasionally. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect any changes. If we make significant changes — such as adding any form of data transmission or cloud features — we will provide a prominent notice within the app and require your explicit consent before those features are used.
